Biography

Mariam was born in 1887. She was the daughter of Joe Morse and Hannah Banks. In 1905, she married^[1] Alfred Noble Saunders.^[2] She passed away in 1952^[3], and is buried in North Kingston, Nova Scotia^[4]. Her obituary^[5] notes

HARMONY. June 21 - The death of Mrs. Noble Saunders occurred at her home, here, May 31. She had been in failing health for some time but had been a bed-patient only a week. Mrs. Saunders was the former Marion Bertha Morse, daughter of the late Joseph and Hetty (Banks) Morse, and was born at Harmony, February 9, 1887. She had always resided in the Harmony community, and in early life became a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was married October 4, 1905 to A. Noble Saunders, of Harmony, by whom she is survived. Other surviving members of her family are four daughters, a son, a sister, two brothers, fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The daughters are: Mrs. Richard Aldred (Marion), Kingston; Mrs. Lewis McMaster (Hazel), Harmony; Mrs. Curtis Banks (Beulah, Roseland, Ont.; Mrs. Norman Dunn (lillian), Aylesford. The son is Chester, at home; the sister is Mrs. Chester Graham (Sarafina), Burlington, Mass., who came home for the funeral, and the brothers are Harlan Morse, Harmony, and Vernon Morse, Greenwood. Funeral services were conducted by pastor Rev. F.W. Gordon, at Harmony Baptist Church, speaking from the text of Proverbs 31. Hymns sung by Harmony choir were "In the Garden", "Sometime We'll Understand", and "Will the Circle be Unbroken?". Interment was in North Kingston cemetery, and pallbearers were Guilford Saunders, Merrill Collins, Clayton MacMaster and Arleigh Banks.
