Harriet Morse was born in Yorkley in the Forest of Dean. Her parents were John and Damaris. John was a Coal Miner. Harriet was baptised at Parkend on December 2nd 1832. [1]
In 1841 Harriet, aged 7 was living with her family, including 7 siblings, in Yorkley. [2]
In 1851 Harriet (who seems to have added 10 years to her age, but still has Yorkley as her birth town) is a house servant for an attorney in Gloucester. [3]
At some point between 1851 when she was single in the Census and 1857 when she was a witness at her sister Eliza's wedding in Liverpool Harriet married Irishman William Jones.William was Jail Warder. The couple lived together in Liverpool and no children are found in the Census returns.
In 1871 the couple live with 12 year old niece Harriet Ansley (born in Liverpool). Harriet was the daughter of Harriet's sister Eliza who had also moved to Liverpool[4]
In 1881 the couple, aged 47 and 48 live in Walton on the Hill, Liverpool. William was a Prison Warder. Niece Ida Gifford (b. Yorkley) lived with them. She was the daughter of Harriets sister Phoebe [5]
In 1891 the couple still live in Walton on the Hill, Liverpool with niece Ida Gifford, and had 3 children visiting (b. Liverpool). William was a Prison Warder. [6]
Harriet passed away between 1891 and 1901, as William was widowed in the next census return.
