Biography

Thomas was baptised on May 31st 1789. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Morse. The family lived in Bream. [1]

In 1818 daughter Mary's baptism certificate lists Thomas as a Colllier living in Bream. [2] In later baptism records he is listed as a Coal Haulier and on son Thomas's marriage record as a Farmer. [3]

On 24 August 1917 Thomas married Anne Priest at Newland. [4] Thomas and Ann had at least 6 children.

In 1841 Thomas was listed as a haulier and the family were living in Whitecroft with 4 children and a servant. [5] In 1851, Thomas and Ann were in their 60's and Thomas was a Coal Haulier, as was his son William. Grandson Thomas lived with them and they had a general outdoor servant. Their address was Parkhill, Whitecroft. [6]

Thomas died aged 65 and was buried on February 23rd 1855. He had still been living in Whitecroft. [7]

In his will he gave his 2 daughters land and a house each in Breams Eaves, his son Thomas an interest in the Grist Mill in Whitecroft and his son William his own house in Whitecroft, after his wife's death. Elizabeth also got first choice of linen and furniture. [8]
