Biography

William Morse was baptized in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England May 17, 1614. He was the son of Anthony Morse. He migrated to New England in 1635, on the ship James. He died in Newbury, Massachusetts November 29, 1683.[1]

William and his wife Elizabeth had the following known children (approximate birth order based on order named in will):[1]

  • Elizabeth, b say 1640; had four children as of Aug 8, 1683
  • Hannah, b Newbury March 6, 1641/2; m John Stiles by 1669
  • Jonathan, b say 1644; m Mary Clarke at Newbury, May 3, 1671
  • Obadiah, b about 1646; m Elizabeth Rawlins by 1670
  • Timothy, b Newbury June 16, 1648; d Newbury Dec 10, 1659
  • Abigail, b Newbury Feb 14, 1651/2; m first John Hendrick by 1678; m second Moses Pingry by 1695

William Morse died November 29, 1683, in Newbury, Massachusetts.[2] and is buried in the "Burying Ground of the First Settlers," in Newbury. [3]

William was baptized at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Marlborough (not St. Mary Church in Marlborough).
