He married Lucinda Lucretia Luke (often noted as Tabor, without any source) on 5 January 1836 in Monroe County, New York.

Joseph Perkins Morse is often identified as Reverend. It is likely that he is the minister who married Albert Morse (his son) and Mary E. Stuart on 9 November 1860 in Van Buren, Michigan. The officiant signed Rev. JP Morse, Minister of the Gospel.[1]
He passed away in 1890.
