The Snow James & Mary

The James & Mary sailed from Larne, Ireland, John Moore, Master, to Charleston, South Carolina, carrying 183 passengers. One source for the passenger list is: (British) Public Records Office, C.O. 5/511.--vp


Meeting of January 12, 1768 the Clerk reported that he had in pursuance of his Excellency the Governors directions been on board the snow James and Mary John Moore Master from Larnes and administered the oaths to such of the poor protestants as were of age who had lately arrived in her into this Province on the encouragement and Bounty given by an Act of the General Assembly of this Province passed the 25th July 1761 agreeable to the following list:

According to the passenger list of the James and Mary, John was 4 years old at the time of the crossing. (I included the names just preceding and following the families.)
