Biography

Greenberry Riggs Morton was born on 9 May 1810 in Mount Sterling, Montgomery, Kentucky. He was the son of James Morton and his wife Ruth Summer Riggs. At age 21, Greenberry left Kentucky for St Louis, Missouri and learned cabinet making. He married Caroline Wood on 29 Nov 1837 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He died on 4 Apr 1885 in Mount Sterling, Gasconade, Missouri, and was buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, Schuyler, Missouri.
