When Seth Morton was born on February 27, 1756, in Middleborough, Massachusetts, his father, Seth, was 23 and his mother, Lydia, was 24. Seth fought in the American revolution as private in Captain Nehemiah company Colonel Theophilius Cotton's Regiment served 31 days on a secret expedition to Rhode Island. Served as private in Captain Allen's Regiment December 8, 1776 to Bristol Rhode Island. Also served in Captain John Barrow's company under command of Colonel Ebeneezer Sprout, served from September 6th to September 12th 1778 from Middleboro to Darmouth. Under same command 2 alarms one in May the other in September of 1778. Seth was commisioned 2nd Lieutenant October 28, 1778 in Captain Finley's Eleventh Company. After the war Seth married Rosamond Phinney and they had one daughter together. After Rosemand's death Seth then married Priscilla Morton (cousin) and they had eight children together. He died on December 4, 1805, i at the age of 49, and was buried in Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
