Biography

Ebenezer was born on November 25, 1715 in Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay as the 6th child of Capt. Ephraim and Hannah (Faunce) Morton, Jr.

In 1724, Capt John Dyer was appointed guardian of Ebenezer.[1]

Ebenezer married Susannah Holmes in Kingston, Massachusetts Bay on May 5, 1743. They had four sons including Kenelm b. 1744, Ebenezer Jr. b. 1746, Zenith b. 1749, and James b. 1750. Ebenezer Sr. removed to Meduncook Plantation (now Friendship), Province (now State) of Maine where they continued to raise their family. Kenelm and Zenith died young; however, Ebenezer Jr. and James continued to reside in Meduncook and raise their own families there.

Two of Ebenezer Sr.'s brothers, namely Cornelius and Elkanah, also removed from Kingston. Cornelius and his family to North Yarmouth, Province (now State) of Maine, and Elkanah to Kings County, Nova Scotia.

Ebenezer Sr. passed away in 1810 in Friendship, Massachusetts (now State of Maine) where he is buried.
