Biography

Perry Mosley was born 9 Oct 1855, the son of George Washington Moseley and Christian Calhoun Moseley[1].

He appears on the 1860[2] and 1870[3] censuses in the household of his father, George Washington Moseley.

He married Emily E. Moseley, his second cousin. They shared William Brantley Moseley, Sr. as great-grandfather.

In 1880[4], Perry appears as head of household on the census with his wife Emily and their sons George and William.

On the 1900[5] census he is a widower and appears with his children (William), Joseph, Vesty, Marion, Lee, Ben, Annie, Luke, and George.

He married his second wife, Melissa Emanuel 7 October 1900 in Emanuel County, Georgia[6].

In 1910[7], Perry was still living in Emanuel County, Georgia, now with his daughter Christina and son (General) Lee from his first marriage, and his and Melissa's daughters Essie, Ophelia, and Sallie, and their son, Ivey. (Note) The 1910 census shows his birth year as 1880, which is incorrect, as he was born in 1855. This is undoubtedly the correct Perry Moseley, as the location and names of all family members are correct.

He appears on the 1920[8] census as widower again, with Ivey, Essie, and Ophelia, his children with his second wife, Melissa. Also on this census was Carrie Harris Swain, living with the family to help out, who would marry Perry's son Marion in 1921.

Perry died 9 July 1941in Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia[9][10] and was buried in Palmetto Cemetery, Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia[11][1].
