Gardner was born during Feb 1816 at Hope, Massachusetts, or at Friendship, Maine,[1] the son of Reuben Mosman and Margaret Studley.
Gardner Mosman and Emmaline Genthner were married on 21 MAY 1843 at Thomaston, Knox Co., Maine. There is also a record for their marriage on 16 MAY 1840.[1] Based on US Census and other records, they had at least the following children:

In 1860, Gardner Mossman, a 42 year old master mariner, lived with his wife Emeline, 34yo, and 4 children in Chelsea, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.[2]
In 1870, Gardner Mosman, a 52 year old farmer, lived in Billerica with his wife Emiline and three children.[3]
In 1900, Gardner Mosman lived with his wife Emeline in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts, in the home of their daughter Sarah E. Howard and her family.[4]
Gardner Mossman died of heart disease at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 9 days on 31 MAR 1901 in Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. He was a carpenter, b. Hope Massachusetts, to Rhuben Mossman b. ENGLAND, and Margaret Studley b. Warren Maine.[5]
Gardner was buried at Commons St., Watertown, Massachusetts.[1]
