Biography

Ann Eliza Moss McGuire

Ann Eliza Moss was born about 1808, the daughter of William Moss and Gertrude Holmes. She married Dr. Hugh Holmes McGuire and they had 9 children. She died in 1878 and is buried in Hebron Cemetery.

Dr. Hugh Holmes McGuire, who married Ann Eliza, daughter of William Moss and Gertrude Holmes. On the maternal side, Dr. Hugh Holmes McGuire and his wife were of the same descent and they were first cousins. He died in 1875, and his widow in 1878.

Wife of Dr. Hugh Holmes McGuire, mother of eight children. Her son Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire was Stonewall Jackson's surgeon. Inscription on her stone reads: "Her children arise up and call her blessed. Be ye also ready."
