Robert Motherals will The following is a detailed abstract of the will of Robert Motheral found on pg. 22, Probate/Will Book E, Mecklenberg Co., NC. I made the abstract from the microfilmed record found in the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City.

I, Robert Motheral of Mecklenburg Co., NC being very sick and weak in body...my well beloved wife Elizabeth two-thirds of plantation I now live on until my youngest son John comes to the age of 21 years and afterward to have her maintenance on it which she lives. I likewise leave her the whole of the stock (except as shall be hereafter named) now belonging to me, as likewise the waggon and all the household furniture and to live in the free and full proportion of the house, all which she is to have and possess as her rightful property untill the time above mentioned, at which time the one half of the stock and other articles above mentioned I allow and ordain to be divided equally between my four sons viz.

Adam, George, Robert and John or such of them as shall then be alive. Item. I leave and bequeath unto my son and daughter William and Sarah to be equally divided betwixt them all the sum or sums of money due or to become due to me in Pennsylvania (preserving the sum of fifty pounds for discharging of my debts, which I will that they be justly and honestly paid and reasonable expenses for obtaining the same. Item. I leave and bequeath to my daughter Martha to be maintained her and her family and her stock on the plantation with the rest of my family during her widowhood. Item. I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Margory the one third of the plantation I now live on to be laid off in that part she lives on and to extend no lower down the creek than halfway twixt the two corners bounding on the creek. Item. I leave and bequeath unto my two sons Adam and George the plantation I purchased from William Manson to be equally divided. Adam to have the lower and George the upper part. I likewise bequeath unto them all my Smith tools if they or any of them learns the trade they are to have them if none of them learns and don't see cause to keep them, I allow them to be sold and the price to be equally divided betwixt the four [?]. Item. I leave and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one cow to be given at a convenient time after my decease. Item. I leave to my daughter Rebecca one cow to be given her at the age of thirteen. Item. I leave and bequeath to my youngest sons Robert and John the two-thirds of the plantation first mentioned to be equally divided and to have full possession thereof when they come to be of age. I also allow all my family that are small and unmarried to live together while they continue so and to be maintained by the produce of the farm and if they incline or any majority should [?] them to have the place where they now live, they are to have the same privilidges and for the same time as before mentioned on the lands left to my two sons Adam and George. And I allow my three youngest children viz. Rebecca, Robert and John to be schooled at the expense of the rest of the family that is remaining. Finally I recommend them all to God who gave them to me. I do hereby appoint, constitute and ordain my loving wife and son William sole executors of this my last will and testament...14 April 1778.
