The 1880 US Census in Burnside Township, Clearfield, Pennsylvania shows "Lizzie" with her parents and her siblings. Jemima, her mother is listed as "Mime."
Elizabeth K. Mott and Clair John Shoff married at Camden, New Jersey, on February 22, 1893. At times she is seen in record as Katherine Elizabeth rather than Elizabeth Katherine.
Their growing family can be seen residing in the Cresson, Cambria, area of Pennsylvania during the 1900 and 1910 US Census. They had one child named La Mott who seems to have died young. The 1900 Census provided birth months and years for the family members, so we know Elizabeth was born in September of 1872. The family later moved north to the outskirts of Olean, New York, residing on Rock City Road.
Family recollection reports that the family met with a series of misfortunes including Clair being injured during lineman work for the railroad, suffering ill health due to lung problems, and most tragically Elizabeth passing away at age 42 before her children had grown up.
Elizabeth's mother, Jemima Mott, moved in to care for the children for some time, and moved away when Clair Shoff remarried to Lucy Fontaine. Jemima had written a note to the younger children so they would know about their mother's fine character, and a copy of that note is attached to this profile.
The wikitree connects Elizabeth Katherine in direct lineage to an impressive array of European notables, though it should be remembered that all of connections are subject to being altered should the evidence show an error in the present tree's configuration.
Among the notables, the tree's "Relationship Finder Quick Links" shows her to be the direct descendant of almost all of the Magna Carta Sureties who had children. They would each be about 20 generation back.
She also has direct lineage to King Edward I of England who wikitree's "Relationship Finder" identifies as her 18th great grandfather. As Edward I is in direct lineage with a variety of other royals, the tree connects her through them to William the Conqueror the Normandy King who conquered England in 1066. William and his wife both have direct lineage well-documented to Charlemagne, Emperor of the West. So between Charlemagne and Edward I, that is a lot of royals in Elizabeth's lineage, none of whom she would have known about.
By Charlemagne's time we are looking at a grandfather approximately 35 generation back, so the possibility that there could be a bad link in the chain must be remembered. And for real context, we should bear in mind what Jemima Mott said about Elizabeth Katherine's character:
