Biography

Thomas Moulton was born about 1609 based on his own deposition in 1639. His origins are unknown.[1]

He migrated in 1630 and resided initially in Charlestown, then removed to Malden.

He was a fisherman.

He married by 1631 Jane _____, born about 1610 based on her own deposition in 1654/5. She was still alive, but bedridden on 1 Feb 1682/3.

He died in Malden, Massaschusetts btw 5 Oct 1657 (date of will) and 24 Dec 1657 (inventory)[2]. His will mentioned:

  • my son Winslow and Sarah his wife
  • eldest son
  • son Michell [Mitchell]
  • son Adams
  • to my wife
  • my son John
  • my son Jacob

Children:

  1. Sarah, b abt 1631; m in Malden 5 May 1652 John Winslow or Winslead.

There were two Great Migration immigrants named Thomas Moulton. This profile is for Thomas Moulton who settled in Charlestown and Malden, a fisherman who came with the Winthrop Fleet in 1630. This Thomas Moulton's origins are unknown. Please do not confuse him with Thomas Moulton (1608-abt.1703) who came from Ormesby, Norfolk, England and settled in Newbury, York, ME and Hampton, NH.

"630: Thomas Moulton, a fisherman at Charlestown, Massachusetts, came in the Winthrop Fleet. November 3, 1630: He was master of Ralph Glover's boat.[3] He had a brother, Robert, who was a ship builder in Salem, Massachusetts. April 4, 1639: He deposed that his age was about 30 years. He removed to Malden, Massachusetts. 1656: He sold some land. 1657: Thomas died and his Will was probated that year."[4][5][6][7]

This profile is marked excessively long. Is there someone who has the time to incorporate it into one easy-to-read Chronological biography?
I removed and cut and paste that was at the bottom of the profile. It was a very long section lifted directly from the Great Migration Begins. I added the link to the GMB sketch in AmericanAncestors.org. The biography could use some attention.
