Born at Feltwell in Norfolk Thomas Moundeford was the fourth son of Osbert Moundeford [1] and his wife, Bridget Spilman.[2][3] He was educated at Eton and at King's College, Cambridge where he graduated BA in 1572 and MA in 1576 afterwards turning to the study of medicine, obtaining an MD in 1584.[2][1]

Physician both to Queen Elizabeth and King James[1] he also tended the unfortunate Arbela Stewart.[4]
His elder son, Osbert, was killed in December 1614 setting out on a journey with Sir Henry Wotton [5]and his younger, Richard, died in London in January 1616. They were both buried at St Mary Magdalene in Milk Street. [1]
Becoming blind towards the end of his life Thomas died in the house of his son-in-law, Sir John Barmston, in Philip Lane in 1630.[2] He was buried in the church of St. Mary Magdalen in Milk Street, with his sons. [2]The church was destroyed in the great fire of 1666 and not rebuilt. [4]
