Katharine (Kay) Mounger was born on June 12, 1939, in Yazoo City, Miss., the daughter of Katharine Davis Mounger and Samuel Gwin Mounger, MD. She lived there until World War II, when her father enlisted and the family lived in New Orleans, Texas, and Oxford, Miss., until the ward ended When she was six the family moved to Greenwood, Miss., where here father had grown up.

She graduated from Greenwood High School as valedictorian, and then the University of Mississippi, where she met Bill, whom she would marry after graduation.

They lived in Chattanooga, Tenn. for a few months, then Florence, S.C., Cookeville, Tenn., Columbia, Tenn., and the Lewis County, Tenn., where they operated a bed and breakfast for 14 years. Hi Katherine,

This profile is part of my ancestral connection. Thank you for updating it. Would be glad to follow up with you.

Makere

Glad to hear from a cousin! Just how are we related?
Not sure that we are, but you adopted a connection: James Stewart as husband of Jane Gilruth

Born about 1801 in Perthshire, Scotland ANCESTORS Son of William Stewart and Isabella Dow Brother of Janet Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart [half], Christian Stewart, David Stewart [half] and William Stewart Husband of Jane (Gilruth) Stewart — married [date unknown] [location unknown]

William Stewart and Isabella Dow are my 4x gt grandparents :). (We have been seeking to definitively identify William's father James for decades)

I don't see that I have a Jane Gilruth in my line, but I do see that there are a Jane (Gilruth-61) and a Jean (Gilruth-56), both born on the same date and location. (neither in my line). Both married to James Stewart. They apparently need to be merged. I don't know if that helps at all. As to James Stewart, married to Jane, I'm missing where I may have adopted him!

I've been surprised to find how few Gilruths (with that spelling) there seem to be on WikiTree.

Hi Katharine,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

I believe this is the father of Minor Jones, my ancestor. I am in tears. I have been looking for so long. {Henry Jones father of Minor Jones}

Katherine, I noticed you are changing the Current Last Names on a lot of profiles. Is that a part of a project? I thought maybe it was Data Doctors.

Hello Katherine,

Please excuse my interruption into I'm sure your busy life. I'm looking for the Grantham's in England or elsewhere other than the States. I have a Sir Thomas Grantham born: May 5, 1590 Linconshire, England. Died Sept 21, 1643. Essex, Massachusetts, USA. Looking for his parents. Have you got a clue on where I might look? Does anyone? England is almost as bad as researching the Native Indians. I did say almost... Lol Thank you for your time. Be Blessed Dana Grantham Collins

It is a relation but I'm actually not sure which Jones, Elizabeth or Martha. Thought I'd roll with it and see what I found. Thanks.

Given that two men with the same name have the same spouse, either they are the same person and the unsourced dates and parents are wrong on one or both of them, or they are two different men with the spouse incorrectly added to one of them. Without any sources, neither option is more obvious or correct. If you have sources you haven't provided in the profile, you should be able to figure out which error it is.

You should look more closely at the merge between Abraham Lewis (Lewis-3790) and Abraham Lewis (Lewis-8572) before rejecting out of hand. The spouses do, in fact, match (and need to be merged) so either these are the same Abraham Lewis with different dates (as they are all unsourced, there's nothing to rely upon in either profile) or they are different Abraham Lewises and Mary Morgan needs to be disconnected from one of them. Please investigate and clear up. Thanks.

Hello Katherine,

I see you have added a death location for William Pipe, however this is a completely unsourced profile and no source was left to prove this information.

Since #8 of our honor code: We Cite Sources is so very important, it would be great if when making these kinds of changes you would leave a source on the biography.

Thanks so much! Emma--Project Coordinator

Hi Katherine,

As a very active Wikigree participant, I do not want to step on your toes. I have made changes in the Waightstill Avery [Avery-2508] profile by adding a portrait as the primary photograph. If you object, let me know and I will change it. I am a member of the Col. Alexander Erwin Chapter of the SAR as are two of Avery's direct descendants. The portrait is in the public domain. This Fall our SAR Chapter will hold a greve marking ceremony at Swans Pond.
