Biography

(Born Mowat but Mowatt used)

Elizabeth (aka "Betty") was born in High St, Mascot, Sydney, Australia on Oct 17, 1917. She was the daughter of Robert Mowat and Margaret "Maggie" Bremner.

She met & married Ronald Vincent Dufficy, also from Mascot, NSW in St Bernard's Church Mascot, NSW on Aug 14, 1939 & together they had eight children. Her sister Cecilia Mowat met and married Maurice Dufficy who was the brother of Ronald.

They resided with the family in 94 Robey St, Mascot until 1959 & were in the process of relocating to 3 Jeanette St, Padstow, NSW where they were building a new house, together with Betty expecting her last child, when Ronald tragically passed away in 1959. After the passing of Ron, Betty's focus in life centered around her eight unmarried children despite the passing of her own mother, her husband and her mother-in-law all within roughly a 3 month period.

She eventually downsized and relocated to 44 Howard Rd, Padstow and then onto a villa home at 1/15 Doyle Road, Revesby.

Her quite demeanor but strong will and determination to raise her family earned her enormous respect not just from the family and extended family but also from all that crossed her path during her life. Although she had very few close friends, preferring to concentrate on family, it was evident by the large turn out for her passing that she had affected and influenced many people during her life.

Betty passed away in Bankstown Hospital, Sydney, Australia on June 22, 1991, age 74 from heart problems and is buried with her husband Ron and eldest son Maurice in Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, 12 Military Road, Matraville, Randwick City Council, New South Wales, Australia.
