Frances Moyle was born in the late 1790's if her age at death is accurate.
Frances may have been the daughter of John Moyle and Jane Roberts.
If so, she was baptised in the Parish of Wendron, Cornwall, England, on 2 February 1797 to John Moyle and Jane Roberts.[1] See research notes below.

Immigration to Australia
In 1847, Frances and her husband, John Hill Moyle, left Cornwall, England for South Australia. They sailed aboard the 'British Sovereign', which left London via Plymouth and arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia on 17 July 1847, after a voyage of 95 days.
An article in the Register, the first newspaper of South Australia, dated Saturday 24 July 1847 gives a list of government emigrants. Among the list are the Moyles:
Government emigrants by the British Sovereign, arrival reported in our last.
Jno. H. Moyle, wife and one child, Walter Moyle, Cuthbert Moyle, Peter Moyle, Robert Moyle, wife, and one child.
The unnamed child was their son James, age 12. Also listed are their sons: Walter (14), Cuthbert (18) and Peter (22). The Robert Moyle with them may have been a relative or another migrant with the same name.
John and Frances’ son William, was 21 when the family immigrated to Australia, however he remained in Cornwall. He immigrated to South Australia several years later with his wife Mary Blee Tripconey.
Death and Burial
Frances' husband, John Hill Moyle died in August 1853 at age 53.
Frances died 28 years after her husband. She passed away on 31 October 1881 at Jamestown, in South Australia.
The South Australia Advertiser – Friday 11 November 1881: [6]
"MOYLE – On the 31st October, at her daughter-in-law’s residence, Jamestown, Frances Moyle, late of Kooringa, aged 84 years. Her end was peace. Cornwall and Melbourne papers please copy."
Frances was buried at Jamestown Cemetery in Jamestown, South Australia. [7]
Although buried in Plot CM20, her headstone may have been placed on Plot CN20. [8]
Notes of Michele (Flanagan) Gregg at 4 Jul 2018:
My initial research from 2000, provided two possibilities for parents of Frances Moyle nee Moyle :
(a) Frances Moyle christened 2 Feb 1797 Wendron, Cornwall, England. Parents: John Moyle and Jane Roberts. [10]
This was based on Frances' age, 84, at death in 1881, providing a calculated birth year of 1797.
(b) Frances Moyle christened 26 May 1805 Wendron, Corwnall, England. Parents: Edward Moyle and Mary Ivey. [11]
This was commonly agreed on among Moyle researchers prior to 2000, including Florence Breed, [12] and other experienced researchers associated with "Moyle A Tree" of Norman Moyle and Kevin Peppin, previously on myfamily.com.
As I review these dates and parents, along with the help of DNA, it appears that Frances was more likely to be the daughter John Moyle and Jane Roberts.
Emerging DNA circles continue to provide helpful clues. Please consider adding your Moyle DNA to WikiTree via GedMatch.
