Biography

"After the death of William's mother (Missouri Ann) in 1909 he left Indian Creek, MO for Welch, OK where he lived with his brother Joseph and went to school. In 1915 he moved to old OK (Indian Territory).

On 4 Oct 1917 during WWI William Irvin Mudd joined the US Army. He was in the Infantry two months; was transferred to Base Hospital at Camp Travis, TX on 11 Nov 1918; made Sgt (1st class) in Medical Corps on 18 Jan 1919; and was discharged on 24 Sep 1919.

After his discharge from the Army he went to PA where he entered the printing business with his father in law.

Married to Frances Noe Thompson (dau of Joseph Augustus Thompson and Annie Jones) on 11 Nov 1919 in St. Louis, MO Children all born Harrisburg, PA: William Irving Jr b 11 Dec 1920, Joseph Robert b 28 Dec 1921, Samuel Alexander b 14 Nov 1930, Alice Thompson b 23 May 1923, Frances b 9 Aug 1929.
