Biography

Henrietta Mueller, or "Peggy" as she preferred to be called, was born on 8 October 1905 in North Bergen, Bergen County, New Jersey, USA.^[1]

She is listed in the 1910 Federal Census as "Etta," at age 4 living in West New York, Hudson County, New Jersey, with her parents Friedrich and Augusta, as well as her siblings Helen-16, Frederick-13, Robert-11, Gertrude-9, Adam-6, Elsie-4, and Jacob-18 months. Also living with them is Henrietta's grandmother, the widow Louise Ackermann, Augusta Mueller's mother.^[2]

Henrietta's father, Friedrich Anton Mueller, died on 19 January 1917 at the age of 45, when Henrietta was 11 years old.^[3] The 1920 Federal Census shows her at age 14 still living in West New York with her mother and seven siblings. Her oldest sister Helen has since moved, but she now how another younger sister Ila-8.^[4]

Henrietta's mother Anna Margaretha Augusta "Gussie" Ackerman died on 7 May 1923, at the age of 50, when Henrietta was 17. As shown by the 1930 Federal Census, her older sister Helen took her in, as well her younger brother Jacob, and sister Ila. ^[5]

Henrietta married Garfield Charles "Gary" Jaeger on 18 June 1932 in Manhattan, New York.^[6]

The 1940 Federal Census shows the couple living in the town of Demarest, Bergen County, New Jersey, with their daughter Arelene-4, and son Eran-2.^[7]

Gary Jaeger died in River Edge, Bergen County, New Jersey, on 10 February 1967, at the age of 63.^[8]

Henrietta (Peggy) Mueller Jaeger died in River Edge, Bergen County, New Jersey on 24 April 1987, at the age of 81.^[1] She is buried in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, Bergen County, New Jersey.
