"Johann and Ida and their two eldest children, Carl Johann (Charlie) and Gustave Adolph were born in Ziegelscheuner Hauland Tirschtiegel Meseritz, Posen, Prussia. Maria Elydia and Edward Albert were born in Catasaugua, Pennsylvania. The remaining children who lived to adulthood: Emil Herman, John Ernst, John Gottfried, John Gottlieb, George Ferdinand and Elizabeth Anna, were born in Wells Township, Tuscola County, Michigan.
