Biography

Daniel was born in 1778. He married in 1800 to Mary Constance Jelly in Marietta, Ohio. He and his father Benjamin were residents of Middletown Township in Washington County of the Territory Northwest of the River Ohio in the first census of taxable males dated 10th June 1800.

Daniel was thought by some descendants to have resided in Clermont County, Ohio before coming to Dearborn County, Indiana. It appears he was actually residing in Mill Creek Township of Hamilton County. Several associated families were nearby during the census of 1820.

Daniel, like many others seeking affordable farm land on which to settle, came with his children to reside in Southeast Indiana. They there resided in the, now nearly forgotten, town of Cold Springs. He died there in 1843.

Nine of Daniel's children were noted by publisher Archibald Shaw in his History of Dearborn county, Indiana. Mulford family bible records indicate additional children were born, several appearing to die unnamed.
