Biography

Wife of George Horace Shorey; Unity – Virginia Alena (Mulherin) Shorey, our beloved mother, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2008, in Waterville of heart failure. She was born September 18, 1927, to Edwin Thomas Mulherin and Eva Alena Keen in Woodward Township, Linden, Pennsylvania. Virginia attended school in Jersey Shore and ran away from home to marry her one true love, George Horace Shorey at his parents' home in Unity, August 18, 1946. They moved to many places over the years but always returned to the rural beauty of the state of Maine. She was well known for her lovely collection of dolls. As an outdoors enthusiast, she held two jobs that many will remember her for and that she found pride in doing. She was cemetery sexton of Unity and supervisor of a flagging crew on the highways of Maine. She retired from those jobs at the age of 72 in 2000. Her family will miss with fond memories her wonderful homemade bread and donuts. She was predeceased in death by her husband George of 50 years

Virginia was born in 1927. She is the daughter of Unknown Mulherin.
