Charles was born to John Mulholland and Sarah Turner in 1880[1]. He was born 20 Mar 1880 and baptised 30 Mar 1880 at St. Andrew's, Rothesay to John Mulholland and Sarah Turner[2]
He was put in the Catholic Orphanage in Rothesay on the death of his mother[3]
He was an iron moulder to trade and signed up with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at the age of 17 the 17th Oct 1898[4]
