Biography

William Mullins ... [1]

According to the 1850 census, he was considered to be one of the first settlers of the Allagash Territory, arriving in 1838.

There are two stories as to how and why he immigrated:

  1. That he worked as a ships doctor to pay his passage from England. He was running from a love affair.
  2. That at about age 14, he was shanghaied and forced to serve on a ship. On reaching America he jumped ship.
