James was born about 1788. He is the son of Booker Mullins[1] and Sara Unknown. [2]
With a note of consent signed March 9, 1812 from Agnes' father, Isaac Little, James posted a marriage bond with David Branham the following day. Moses Damron attested to the bond. James and Agnes were lawfully married two days later, March 12, 1812.[3]
On November 4, 1818, James purchased 32 acres of land on the Beefhide Creek from John Graham for $30.[4]
In 1850, James' father, Booker age 88, was residing with James and Agnes.[5]
Widower James Mullins, age 67, married Rebecca Hays, age 19, on 29 September 1859 at Wise County, Virginia.[6]
There is no record listing James' middle name as "Booker".
In Cornelius Carroll's research, he writes: James Mullins b. ca 1788 Franklin County, Virginia - d. prior to 1880 Letcher County, Kentucky md 1) Agnes Little b. ca 1782 Virginia, daughter of Isaac & Winney (Roberts) Little, on 12 March 1812 Floyd County, Kentucky, 2) Rebecca Hayes b. ca 1840 Russell County, Virginia, daughter of John & Athaliah (Mullins) Hayes, on 29 Sept. 1859 Wise County, Virginia.
Rebecca and her sons Booker and Joshua are living with her father John Hayes and his second wife in the 1880 Letcher County, Kentucky Census.
James and Agnes had no known children.
