According to daughter-in-law, Margaret, Ola and her future husband George, were friends with Harry and Bess Truman, having attended the same high school (today called William Chrisman High School, but then known as Independence High School) in Independence Missouri and went out on double dates together. Also according to daughter-in-law, Margaret, Ola was always dressed up nicely, even when she was cleaning the house, she looked great. According to grand-child Carole, she said, you are a Foster, always dress like you are one to her children.
