Samuel was born in shtetl Griva in the area of present day city of Daugavpils, Latvia. Some records indicate that he was born on October 16, 1882 and others give date as October 15, 1882.
His parents were David Munitz and Sara Fox[1].
Samuel's occupation was a butcher for pretty much his whole life.
He immigrated to United States, where he landed in New York on November 25, 1904. He came aboard vessel Graf Waldersee that sailed from Hamburg, Germany. The ship manifest has him recorded under the name of Schmul Munitz. His destination was Cleveland, and he was going to uncle Wolf Grin (sp.?) living at Cleveland, Oh, Perry st. 373 (sp. ?)
He was naturalized by United States on September 14, 1912 in Cleveland, OH. His residence at the time was at 2373 East 46 Street, Cleveland, OH.
In 1942 he lived at 11703 Fairport, Cleveland, OH. At that time he worked Munitz Meat Market that was located at 966 East 123rd Street, Cleveland, OH.
