Research Notes

Lucy, Benomy and their son George are mentioned in the book "Cape Breton and the Jackson Kith and Kin, by Elva Jackson On page 46, George's history is outlined:

"George Munn (1800-1844), a master mariner, son of Benoni and Lucy Townsend Munn, in 1842, bought a piece of land from the widow of John Stewart. He had married Susannah, a daughter of Adam Moore, and when he was lost at sea in 1844, there were nine children, the youngest less than a year old. Several of these met tragic deaths - Benjamin, at 22 at sea with his father; John, at 29, in the West Indies; and William, in California. James Munn, also a master mariner, married Mary Ann, a daughter of William and Isabella Musgrave Moffatt. John and Charles Munn, owners of Munn Greenhouses on the original property, are grandson's of Captain James Munn."[5]
