Jean or Jane Munro was born in April, 1818, and baptised in the parish of Assynt, Sutherland, on the 19th of April, 1818. She was the daughter of shepherd William Munro and Anne Mackay.[1]
The Munro family came to Australia as assisted immigrants via the James Moran, arriving 11th February 1839.[2][3]
She married William McGrath in the parish of Wollongong, NSW, in 1847.[4]
She died at her son's home at West Cambewarra, NSW, on the 10th of June, 1903,[5] and was buried in the Nowra cemetery.[6][7]
Death of Mrs W.McGrath[6]
The death occurred on Wednesday last of Mrs. McGrath, relict of the late Mr. William McGrath, of Meroo. The deceased had been an invalid for some years, and her death, which took place at the residence of her son, Mr. W.T. McGrath, West Cambewarra, was not unexpected. She was a sister of Mrs. Z.G. Bice, of St. Enoder, Nowra. The funeral took place yesterday, when the deceased lady's remains were interred at the Nowra public cemetery, a large number of old friends and acquaintances attending the burial service, which was conducted by the Rev. H. Wheen. The late Mrs. McGrath was 83 years of age.
Jean's parents are supported by DNA matches between Nerida (Morison) Ryan, descendant of Jean's sister Annie (Munro) Ballantyne (1815-1900) and Nerida's 4th cousins (not on WikiTree), descendants of Jean (Munro) McGrath.
