William was born in 1912 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is the son of Alexander Russell Munroe and Eva Jane Hamilton. His father was a surgeon, and when William was a small boy, went overseas to serve in WW I. William was the eldest, and had a sister born in Alberta, and two more sisters born in England, United Kingdom. While the war was on, his mother took him and his sister Isabel to live with his grandfather Jonathan in Neepawa, Manitoba, Canada.[1] In 1921 their family was back living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.[2][3]
William passed away at 81-82 yrs. of age in 1994, likely in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is buried in Edmonton Cemetery, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.[4]
