Biography
Mabel or Mable Joan Munson was born on 10 Jan 1924[1] in Davenport, Lincoln, Washington[2] to parents Guy A Munson and Irma L (Maskenthine) Munsun (1898-1988).[3]
In 1930 Mable was 6 years old. A cousin, Rita Dolores Maskenthine McGath (1922-2008), Irma's niece (8), was also living with them in the family home on Maxwell Street. [4] Note: Rita was the daughter of Irma's brother, Ernest Herman Maskenthine, and his wife, Grace Bertha Boleneus] of Lincoln County, Washington. According to FindaGrave, this niece had two siblings Lloyd V Maskenthine and Elaine Marjorie Maskenthine Morgan[5]
In 1935 the family was living in rural, Lincoln County, WA and on 1 Apr 1940 the family was living in Sprague, Lincoln, Washington and Mable (11) had completed 1 year of high school. Rita was no longer living with them.[6]
On 11 Nov 1945, Mable Joan Munsen and Royal Lloyd "Swede" Anderson (aka "Swede") married in Ritzville, Washington.[7] [8] in Adams County, Washington in Nov 1945. At the time of the marriage Mable was 21 and working as a beauty operator, Royal was 23 and serving in the US Navy.[9]
At various times between 1950 and 1993, she was seen living at three different locations in Wenatchee, Washington and referred to as "Dr M Joan Anderson".[10]
She lost her husband to death on 1 Nov 1977 in King County, WA.[11]
On 19 Jun 1980, Social Security records show her using the name Mable Joan Mayer.[12]
She died 18 Sep 1997[13][14] at age 73 in Wenatchee, Chelan, Washington[15] and was buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport, Lincoln, Washington.[16]
On 9 Oct 1997 her name had reverted back to Mable J Anderson. Note that all name variations on the SS record show the spelling of her first, seldom used, given name as Mable.[14]
RESEARCH NOTES
- The marriage Record shows an application date of 1 Nov 1945 and an issue date of 4 Nov 1945 but does not specifically state the actual marriage date; however the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Archives, kept in Elk Grove, IL has confirmed actual marriage date of 11 Nov 1945.
- The U.S. Public Records Index for 1950-1993, Vol 1 shows a title of Dr (but I have not substantiated any educational degree or licensure). Streets mentioned for residence were Quail Run Blvd., Castlerock Ave, and Crawford Ave.
- The SS Applications source shows that on 19 Jun 1980 name was Mable Joan Mayer. I have not found any evidence of a marriage or name change anywhere else. This needs to be further researched. Possibly a family member could collaborate on this issue.
- Red [[|]] brackets purposefully applied to distinguish referenced names who need profiles of their own and proper linking. I just located the family line relationship of the niece who lived with them. She and her parents and subsequently Rita's spouse need profiles of their own.
