Biography

Josiah George Murden was born in 1857.[1] He was the oldest child of Henry Murden and Jane Cook. He was raised in the household of his maternal grandparents.

He married Elizabeth Anderson (Hewson) Brown in 1881. [2]

Research Notes

  • Wife, Jane Brown, is incorrect. I found a marriage between a different George Murden born in 1833, and Jane Markham. This George was born in Alconbury Weston, Huntingdonshire. Freembd, https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?cite=T%2BkdHi3zddIpXjuu38LaTQ&scan=1
  • There is also another George Murden from Alconbury Weston, Huntingdonshire born in 1864. It would be easy to confuse these 3 men
  • The only George Murden to appear in the birth registers for 1858-1860 had his birth registered in Nottingham with a mother's LNAB of Rise. The only George Murden to appear in the 1861 Census, born 1858-1860 is living with his grandparents William and Louisa Cook. This George Murden is found living with the Cook's again in the 1871 Census. Is this the same George Murden? I have put all sources below for us to investigate further.
  • No baptism record has been found.

George probably married twice and Albert was son of first wife (Jane), Amy and Clarisa were daughters of second wife (Elizabeth).

Either Jane or Elizabeth had maiden name Brown.
