According to a conversation between Sharon Murdoch Primbsch and Dorothy Murdoch Hughes in 2010, Jessie did not marry R. O. Peters until after her mother, Elizabeth MacPherson Murdoch, died (which was in Oct 1949). In Charlyn Johnson's email of 16 Apr 2010 she says, "Sorry, I don't know where Pete & Jessie were married. Maybe Long Beach or Whittier but if not either of those places, I wouldn't have another guess. I don't remember a wedding. I suppose it's possible that they never got married officially...but just told everyone they did because they wanted to live together. Jessie was a bit of a renegade although on the surface she appeared to be quite the proper lady. She and Pete had been taking cruises and traveling together for years before they married. Jessie always sent postcards showing a picture of a ship with two X's marking "My room" and "Pete's room." It was funny even back then!" [In Martha/Marty Marie Murdoch Swain's email of 29 dec 2010, she describes the origin of a 21-diamond ring that got passed down through various women in the family. Jessie received it from her two spinster aunts and passed it on to Eleanor Murdoch Wright: See the whole story in Marty Swain's notes in this ancestral file. Sharon Primbsch]
