Biography

Isabella was born Isobel on 19th July 1833, not the date given on by Scottish Records Office. Her parents were James Murdoch, a farm labourer and Helen Innes. The date 1833 makes her age at her marriage 10 years older than the age, 26, that she gave. She was a domestic servant when she married John. Despite the differences in their ages - he was 53 - she was [in fact] 36 - he outlived her by five years. Her correct age was given on her death record. Her parents were James Murdoch, Crofter/Labourer and Helen m/s Innes. John Duncan was a witness at her marriage.
