Everything we know about George Murison comes from the transcription of the family gravestone (#149, image uploaded) at Rathen Auld Kirkyard. We have found no evidence of records of his birth, or either of his marriages, on ScotlandPeople. However, it appears that documentary evidence may indeed exist in respect of his death at age 87 on 7 December 1777[1] and his subsdquent burial in the Auld Kirkyard of Rathen, in the County of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
He is stated to have been a "Farmer in Loanend of Memsie", but after much searching we have not yet managed to discover where exactly this farm may have been.
George evidently married twice, first in about 1720 to Margaret Taill, with whom he may have had six children, and later in about 1737 to Ann Setton with whom he may have had a further three.
From the available birth records on ScotlandsPeople we can see that there were at least two different persons named George Murison who had children baptized in Rathen during the period 1720-1750.[2] We can determine this by studying the dates and spacings of the listed baptismal records. It is not clear how this can ever be completely unravelled without some major new record coming to light.
