Adam Taylor Murphy was born 7 Jan 1845 in Pike, Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA to Andrew J Murphy and Catherine Kelly. On August 4, 1862, he enlisted into the military and became PVT Adam T Murphy of the 148th Pennsylvania Regiment. Adam married Martha Patterson Smith in 1880 in Clearfield, Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA. Together they had one child, Clara Iona (1883-1958). On the 14th March 1906, Clara had an illegitimate child, Andrew Robison “Reub” Murphy, with John F Rafferty. Adam and Martha continued to raise their grandson after Clara married. Adam passed away on 1 Jul 1927 in Curwensville, Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA and was buried In Oak Hill Cemetary, Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States of America.
