I will come back to this. There was confusion around the maternal lineage because there has been a mistake with one of the illiterate sons on his wedding certificate. I have the lineage for Thomas Edward Simpson going back through the birth, death and marriage certificates. It is very clear, that Jane 's maiden name is actually Butler. I managed to find information about Jane Butler (born in 1791 to William Butler and JAne Forbes. HOwever, I found the confiramtion through adding her sister Ann Butler (born in 1792), because this confirms the parents and also states she has a n older sibling Jane. There is a colourful history here -in that both parents are first /second fleet convicts BUT I suspect that Jane is not fathered by William and rather by one of the crew men on her trip over as there is recorded information that Jane Forbes got pregnant and lost her baby on the trip. She landed in Australia, and shortly after arriving her beau left her in Australia and she quickly married William Butler, and then had a couple of children with him before dying aged 26 after falling into the fire apparently. I'm actively researching this line currently.
