Roy Alan Murphy was born about July 5, 1884 in Sullivan, Missouri, United States, son of James R. Murphy (~1848–~1946) and Lucinda Cindarilla Gibson (1848–1922).
Roy married Lucy Edith Pike (born on September 17, 1888 in Missouri; daughter of George William Pike and Margaret Ella Crow).
Roy (19) married Samantha Vestal (17) (born about November 3, 1886 in Missouri; daughter of James Sherman Vestal and Delilah Hanna Serena (Admire) Vestal) on December 22, 1903 in Appanoose, Iowa.[1] Their children were:
