Hannah was born in 1845. Parents were Owen Murphy and Mary Drinan of County Cork.
Hannah arrived as a widow with her family aboard the Peterborough on July 7, 1881 after leaving Plymouth on April 29,1881. She was aged 37, and her daughter Helena was 14, Catherine was 10 and her son James was 6. The family was from Cork. [1] A brother, Eugene Murphy (d. 26/1/1947 Naranderra) was also on board. Another brother, Daniel was already living in Lochinvar, having arrived in 1858, aged 20 (d. 24/5/1926 Maitland (D7,57). [2]
