DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Anne by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Anne:
You do indeed have some unusual surnames in your tree. I know because we share one of them. I believe it is your husband's tree that I share surnames with. Do you mange his tree or should I contact him directly. My surname was Duane prior to emigration to the US in the 1850s. I have done quite a bit of research on my ancestors from the Ballynahinch, Co. Galway area. I have been unsuccessful more than I have been successful , but I would be happy to share what I have found.
Best regards,
Kevin Devine
Thanks for writing! I am the one who manages my husband's tree, so you've come to the right place. We have a bit of a stumper with his grandfather, who may have gone by a different surname before and/or after his time in England. There are no longer any family members with knowledge of the details. We have one document that lists his father's name as John Duane, but I've yet to enter that here. My husband's DNA ties him to people in the Saginaw, Michigan area, but nobody with the last name of Duane! He does have likely ties to Ireland including the Galway area, so maybe there's a connection? There's also a significant Polish ancestry tie. Our current theory is that his grandfather was a bit of a rogue, thus the trickiness of trying to track him. Cheers! ~Anne
