Biography

This profile is part of the Murray Name Study.

Sarah was daughter of Col. Richard Murray, a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Her mother was Judith, possibly nee Allen. Names of Sarah's parents and 11 children are found in court documents from Sept. 1822 in Fluvanna County Chancery court. Sarah was already deceased when this case was presented by her husband Allen W. and son William Bond stating that her children were entitled to what would have been her share of the inheritance, 1/7 of the total. Sarah's father, deceased, is named Richard Murry in the court papers, and his widow is named as Judith Murry. The document can be seen on Ancestry.com. Children named in the court document are: Lucinda wife of Samuel West; William; Cary Ann wife of William Ross; Robert; Norman; Tallassee; Harriet; Silvester; Mary; John; Sarah Ann. Plaintiff Allen W. Bond states that the last 7 of the 11 children are under the age of 21.
