Biography

William Murray is a member of Clan Murray.
This profile is part of the Murray Name Study.

William was born about 1560. He was the son of Andrew Murray and Grissal Beaton. He passed away in 1638. [1] His will was recorded 4 Mar 1641 at Edinburgh.

He acquired the lands of Dunerne in Fife, and was an ancestor of the Murrays of Clermont and Newton.[2]

He married first, Marjorie Schaw, who died 29 May 1626. Her will was recorded 29 Aug 1626 at Edinburgh. They had a son, William, who became Baronet.

He married second, Margaret Colvill, about 1627, and had another son, John, born 17 Apr 1628.
