Martha Murrell was born on November 18, 1758, in Goochland County, Colony of Virginia, daughter of Drury Murrell (1740–1801) and Dorcas Roundtree (1740–1776).

Martha (24) married Matthew Farrar (22) (born on October 29, 1760, in Louisa, Virginia; son of Perrin Farrar and Sarah (Lacy) Farrar) on December 17, 1782, in Goochland, Virginia. ^[2]
