Biography
Nicholas was born in 1862. He is the son of Nicholas Murrish, a miner from Cornwall, and Mary Oats, a dressmaker.
Nicholas was born in Australia but his mother and sisters returned to Cornwall before travelling out to New Zealand.
He arrived in New Zealand with his mother and sisters in 1876 on the Bebington. He was 13 years old.
