Research Notes

Some information was found on a Cherokee County Texas History site. The web site below for Texas History. Once there, put Cherokee County History in search, then click on book 'Cherokee County History', scroll to box "Jump to", click down arrow, click page 427 and then GO. This brings information on the Musick family.

Since Robert was born before Arkansas or Texas became states, he was probably born in what is considered a territory. Most likely he was born in what is now the state of Arkansas rather than Texas, since he moved from there to Texas. There seems to be confusion as to who his parents may be. The memorial on Find A Grave shows them as Ephraim Musick and Winnie C. Gillespie; however, if you look at Winnie's birth year, she would only have been 14 when Robert was born. [not impossible, just odd] Another couple mentioned as parents are Daniel Musick and Jean Unknown.
