Christian High Musselman, with his wife, Emma, built a highly successful fruit canned company in Pennsylvania, first starting around 1913. They canned items included tomatoes, corn and fruit which were very necessary to provide food to American troops during World War I.
C.H. purchased the company from his father and brother. John S. and John H started the company in 1906 with their daughter/sister Ella.
Musselman Apple Sauce is the gold standard for any future apple sauce and apple butter production done by other companies. Not only the making of apple products but the growing of fruits trees (including cherries) used soil conservation methods.
C. H. Musselman's factory centered in Biglerville, PA was for the manufacturing of apple butter and jellies and provided employment to the region. He built additional factories in other locations.
