A. J. Musselman of Cleveland, Ohio, was creator of the coaster brake and the pneumatic aircraft tire.
A coaster brake is also known as a back pedal brake or foot brake. It is engaged by pressing backwards on the pedals and very common on all bikes during the 20th century. The pneumatic tires became popular in the 1890s.
Musselman was always coming of with new ideas, including bicycle wrenches. His company name was Musselman Products Co. He was the inventor of the "Doenut" tire (a type of spare tire) and a builder of racing bicycle tires.
