M. Emma Musselman produced some of the top drawings as a fashion illustrator during the early years of the 20th century. She was born in 1880 in Lancaster Co., PA and lived for years in Philadelphia, PA.
In 1900 in the US census, Emma was living with her parents and brother in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania. She was at school. In 1910 and 1920 she was boarding in Philadelphia alongside her mother and working as a landscape artist. By 1930 she was living alone (presumably after the death of Anna) and working in an artists' studio.
Emma was an artist for the fashion ads both in magazines and newsprint. Also her illustrations were used for the paper doll cutout clothes which were very popular. Her illustrations continued into the 1920's for Ladies Home Journal, Women's Home Companion and other publications.
In 1935, she moved to New York, and the year after, at age 55, married a divorced man, Jack Watts Bagley.
